gyachi-on-ubuntu-10-10

Gyachi(GyachE Improved) is nothing but a yahoo(messenger) client for Linux based operating system e.g Ubuntu 10.10(Maverick Meerkat).It’s free and open source equivalent of yahoo messenger.It has all the features that you expect,like voice chat,avatars,nicknames,webcams.Gyachi’s GUI is developed using GTK(GNU Tool Kit),so gtk 2.0.6 or better is required.

Installing GyachI on Ubuntu 10.10

Installation of Gyachi on Ubuntu 10.10,can be divided in two parts one installation of dependencies/libraries and second the gyachi data && application.The detail explanation is given below –

step #1 :  Install libgtkhtml 2-0

gtkHTML is a lightweight engine to render,print and edit HTML; Gyachi need this libraries to be installed so first download *.deb packages from here http://packages.debian.org/lenny/i386/libgtkhtml2-0/download  and open with software center to install.

step #2 : Install GyachI

Now,you can download gyachi packages(first two packages is necessary) from this link https://launchpad.net/~loell/+archive/ppa/+build/1806226 and open with software center;click on install button..and wait for the installation to complete.

To access Gyachi go to Applications –> Internet –> GyachE Improved and enter your yahoo account details to begin.

    Found a solution that works for me on Ubuntu 10.10

    type in terminal

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:adilson/experimental
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install gyachi

    Hope it works for you.

    what am i supposed to download on that page?
    and how do i do it?
    I wish someone would just write one understadnable page, then everyone can use it.

  3. By the way I tried to copy and paste in terminal the above script and below is the result
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:adilson/experimental
