The strict security policy of the ubuntu doesn’t allow you to login as root. Its strictness seems somewhat meaningfull when we think about the novice linux users(who just migrate fr0m the windows world) because their system may become unstable or may corrupt due to a little mistake if they have the power of root in gui mode.
But it is very frustrating when it comes to experienced users.Although we can do it fr0m command line interface(Using sudo) but we are not masochist because if we can enable the root login in gui mode then it is fine(Although efficiency may be different in both cases but in this high computation world we can neglect those little difference) and enjoyable.Lets come to the point-
Actually we can enable root login in ubuntu latest versions like 9.10 0r 10.04(Lucid Lynx) very easily by using a command sudo passwd.

Today we are going to choose a better dictionary in ubuntu 10.04.You know there is an online dictionary installed by default in ubuntu 10.04(Lucid Lynx) but it may not satisfy the users conditions. The features of the Dictionary(Applications->Office->Dictionary) is very limited with a simple interface.Hence it is not a bad idea to installed a new one from the software center or synaptic manager. But here is the problem because there are lot dictionary available but it is difficult to find out which are better for their need.
So you should have to try each dictionary once that seems frustrating.Don’t worry I have a simple solution because I have tried out some of that.I found a dictionary named “Fantasdic” that I installed from the software center is the most powerful, easy to use and of course a stable one.Fantasdic is a dictionary application developed under the GNOME project.
Fantasdic Features at a glance
*Dictionary server : It looks up for a word in many online dectionary servers like dict.org or others.
*Google translate : It translate words with the help of google translate directly from fandastic.
*edict file : it can use any dictionary servers that available in the format like edict or cedict.
*Scan clipboard feature : with this feature enabled you can look up in the dictionary without copying or writing word in it.Just enable the scan clipboard mode and go the web page or e-book and copy it,the fandastic will look up those words.Hence it is very usefull when you have to search the meaning for many words continuously from a e-book or website.

Some months ago canonical decided to change the default search engine in mozilla firefox from Google(In the ubuntu 9.10 version) to yahoo(For the next version i.e Lucid Lynx). So
in the beginning of ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx beta release the default search engine in the mozilla firefox was switched to yahoo from Google. After some week it was decided that the default search engine will be google, and the changes will be made before 15th april.Hence in the final stable release(April 29,2010) Google will be the default search engine for mozilla firefox.I am trying ubuntu 10.04 beta version on my personal computer. When I updated my system on April 14,2010 My default search engine in the Mozilla firefox has changed to Google.
In ubuntu 10.04 distribution package there is one software i.e installed by default(In accessories) called- “Take Screenshot” with some basic features, can be used to take screenshot.Suppose you want to take screenshot for some selected region then you start annoying with this. One week ago, while I was messing around software center,a new software Ksnapshot came into the mind.I installed it and Now I think this is what I was looking for weeks.Ksnapshot is an excellent software I recommend you to use it for taking snapshots and enjoy. It is better not only in features but it is also more stable then the “Take Screenshot”.
