A free open source software that will generate required video format(for the most of the common devices) from the particular source formats.Basically it is a video converter that you can use on Ubuntu 10.10(Maverick Meerkat)/10.04(Lucid Lynx) to transcode the target video type for ipod,iphone and mobile devices at zero cost! Actually Most of the Windows users don’t want to try Ubuntu 10.10 because they feel uncomfortable with the incompatibility problem of their favorite devices/Applications with Linux Environment,so handbrake is very useful for a lot of users.The Latest release is Handbrake 0.9.5,released on Jan,2011.

Installing Handbrake video transcoder on Ubuntu 10.10
#1 : Download the .deb(Debian Package) of the handbrake software(Debian because here I’m dealing with Ubuntu 10.10,if you are using other flavor of Linux then choose the appropriate package from the list).
Download Handbrake for Ubuntu 10.10
or go to it’s official website.
#2 : After downloading the correct package,open it with Ubuntu Software Center;click on install to proceed.
#4 : When the installation is complete,go to the Applications menu and start using it.
